Round 7 | University & Boars

Sadly, University made the call to forfeit our A Grade game first thing on game day which was rather disappointing given we were part of the line up for the second year in a row at An Afternoon At The Rugby.  The forfeit did help Reserve Grade in more ways than one.  Not only did they manage to have a couple of A Graders sitting on the bench keen for a run, the lack of first grade game meant that our match was moved to the main field at Victoria Park.  The gents got the job done with a 26-0 finish over the Boars.  Our three, two ones went to well deserving recipents, awarded by fellow Grufc Ben Gill and Kirk Parker.  One point went to Fly Half Bill Auld, Two points were awarded to Micaiah Chapman and Man of the Match, with three points, was George Kupu with some solid defence and impressive line breaks resulting in a couple of try assists.

Round 2 | Colts

Today was a big afternoon of rugby!  Our semi final was the first game of the day against Frenchville.  After losing the majority of our back line to work commitments and finally succumbing to a few of Beau McDonald's (Frenchville) runaway tries, we finished the game 5 to 34. Though we went down to Frenchy in the semi, entertaining arvo of rugby!  Both Brahmans teams got up convincingly and Frenchy took out the 10's comp.  Great work guys, from the players, volunteers, supporters and hosts. Bring on Round 1 on April 30 for the rematch against Frenchville at Marley Brown!

2016 Pre Season 10's | Round Three

Today was our one and only home round in the Pre Season 10's Competition. It was great to host however disappointing that the home team was only granted one game. Unfortunately both the Boars and Cap Coast could not travel with numbers, and we could not convince the others to at least entertain us in playing a scratch match.

Our one and only game was against Biloela of which we came out on top 17-0. Thank you to the teams that played, we hope you enjoyed your experience at our new home ground and hospitality. Also to a few of our guys that filled in for a couple of the travelling teams, we are proud of your sportsmanship.

2016 Pre Season 10's | Round Two

We were definitely thanking the rugby gods today for the breeze and a bucket load less humidity than in the first round!

Luckily for Bernie he didn't have to take the field as we managed both games with a handful sitting on the bench, and given the better weather conditions, all very eager to get back on the pitch.  Even the guys coming off the field were keen to get back on as soon as possible.  Their efforts managed to secure two from two wins.

Thank you to all that travelled up to play and support, it is always greatly appreciated.

2016 10's Rugby GRUFC
2016 Pre Season 10's | Round One

Today was definitely proof that 10's rugby is for flankers and backs, as evident by our team of front rowers, second rowers, the occasional back and the coach taking the field with no subs. This included playing the first game a man down until George arrived at half time. All though smoked in both games against Uni and Bilo, our guys managed to score a try in each game to ensure points on the board. Our new coach Bernie even took the first points with a pick and drive try in the corner.

A massive thank you to everyone that came, it was a ridiculously hot and humid but the guys never up and for that we are very proud!

2016 Trial GRUFC
2016 TRIAL #2

Colts held a Tri Club Trial on March 12.  The afternoon went rather well with the Grufc drawing with Colts in the first game and just falling short by a try with Frenchvile in the second.  Unfortunately due to requiring an ambulance for one of the young Colts (torn muscles and bruised C4 and C5, luckily it wasn't more severe), the Club Challenge was abandoned.

Thank you to all our supporters and players making the trip up the road!

2016 Trial GRUFC
2016 TRIAL #1

Our first trial match is scheduled for March 5 againt 2015 Grand Finalists Frenchville before the CQRU's pre season 10's comp begins.  Please join us on March 5 at Marley Brown Oval, 4.30pm to see how the men have faired after the off season.

Bernie took this trial as an opportunity to see all the players perform.  Due to this, the Grufc had quite the unfair advantage rolling close to half a new team out every drinks break against Frenchville, who required some extra players.  It was a great first run at Marley, can't wait for more!

U17's 2015 Grand Finalists

After a clean sweep during the season, including two forfeits heading into the Grand Final, our U17's battled it out against Frenchville only to lose the only game of their season in the GF.  Congrats to all the guys and coach Anthony Patali on getting through to the Grand Final.  It's the third GF appearance in the Rockhampton Competition since our reintroduction into the Junior program in 2010.

Grufc Juniors
U15's 2015

The GRUFC U15's got pipped at the post heading into the finals campagin but they put in a massive effort all season.  It was impressive to continually receive great feedback on all three sides behaviour this week not only representing the club well but their families also. Congrats to all the boys and coach Dave O'Brien for their continuous efforts.

Grufc Juniors
U13's 2015 Semi Finalists.

2015 was the first year in over a decade that the GRUFC were able to field a successful and consistent U13 side in the Junior program.  Congrats to all the boys and coach Troy Morris on making the finals and finishing the season in the top 3.
