GLADSTONE Goats Rugby Union Football Club has a new home for the upcoming season.

After more than 20 years of playing at the Meteors ground, club president Steve Ball said the Gladstone Rugby League came up with an offer too good to refuse.

"It's good to be able to have both codes of rugby playing at Marley Brown and it opens up a number of opportunities," Ball said.

Having a proper training facility is also important for a club that has had a successful 2015 campaign where the A-grade side won the premiership and the reserves were preliminary finalists.

The junior grades have also had great seasons and will train at the Junior League Fields behind the Harvey Road Tavern.

"The club is starting to get big and rather than training on half a field with the other codes using the other half at Meteors, it will give the Goats and the rugby league sides to train on the whole field," Ball said.

"It has such good facilities and the patrons can have a look."

He added that the premises are great for the area.

"It has, what I think, some of the best sporting facilities for the region and offers the opportunity to host a higher level of rugby," Ball said.

When questioned as to whether the line marking from both league and union will add confusion, Ball said on Facebook that this is not an issue.

"The marking of the fields at the five and 15m lines will be painted in a different colour," Ball posted.

"The difference is that we have to put five-metre lines in and 15-metre lines."
